How to Win 18 Years of Safety Awards
Power Vac America is proud to announce that we have won the Outstanding Safety Award.
When the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) first introduced their Safety Award program in 1998, we jumped at the chance to showcase our company’s impressive track record on safety. Since then, we have won the award every year and this year is no exception.
Specifically, this award recognizes our safety achievements in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
How do you win a safety award 18 years in a row?
It’s not just enough to have a good safety manual (though we do). The real key to a successful safety program is the employees. The credit for this award goes entirely to our crew leaders and Walter Garrett, our Operations Manager. Walter staffs our crews with conscientious, highly trained employees, makes sure that they stay trained and up to date with the certifications, and makes sure that they follow through with their safety training when they’re at a jobsite.
We also invest in our employee’s educations, sending them to the Houston Area Safety Council for extensive training. Not only do our crew members have their Basic Plus safety certifications, but they have also been trained on working in a confined space, asbestos safety, and scissor lift safety certification, to name a few.
We follow our safety training with daily pre-jobsite assessments, led by the crew leaders. Those daily safety assessments are reinforced by regular roundtable meetings in the office. The roundtable meetings bring together all of the crew members and the management, so that everyone can talk about what is working and what isn’t, and how we can apply what we learned at one jobsite to another. Best of all, free lunch!
With everyone communicating on the same page, safety falls into place.
We’re very proud that to have won this safety award from NADCA. In fact, we’re one of the very few companies who have won this every year, which is a huge achievement!
